Re: PlayMemories Home crashing on Mac OS X 10.11.5

I have recently purchased a Sony HX90V camera, which I am pleased with so far, but I have experienced the same freezes reported in this thread when attempting to use Playmemories with the camera and my late 2009 Quadcore Mac Pro (not a Macbook), running OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite). Admittedly my hardware is old and a bit slow now, and struggling a bit even with this somewhat outdated OS, but Playmemories is supposed to work with it, and all other applications I use work fine. One thing I noticed when connecting the camera is that it simultaneously attempted to launch not only Playbackmemories (abortively), but also (successfully) a Canon camera utility I have installed for use with with Canon cameras. It therefore seems that the PM freeze (at least in my case) may be caused by a clash between two applications with similar functions which get at cross purposes. Generally it is a reasonable expectation that software creators will ensure that their product is insulated from malfunctions owing simply to the presence of previously installed similar applications from other major manufacturers, so it seems that in this case Sony is at fault (Sony's launch freezes; Canon's works OK). I don't want to uninstall the Canon application, which I use regularly with a Canon camera I also have. I also find that the Canon application works with the Sony Camera, and allows me to download  into folders automatically identified by the shooting date, which is exactly what I want it to do. I have therefore uninstalled the Sony application and I will for the moment continue to use only the Canon one with the Sony camera. While I retain a good opinion of the camera, I consider my experience, and the evidence of all who have contributed to this thread, to reflect extremely poorly on Sony's coding; and it will make me unlikely to purchase any other Sony product that has any interface with a computer or handheld device. I hope Sony will recognise that there are now a lot of Mac and iOS users, and that the poor user experience described here is a threat to Sony's commercial reputation. And I hope they will do something about it, fast.
