Re: Playmemories Home Mac

Hi jimzan94,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

From what I understand from your post, you want PlayMemories Home (Mac version) to automatically sync the photos to PlayMemories Online once you download them to the computer. The PMH Mac version does not have this feature. You will have to manually upload the files to PMO after importing them.

But thanks for your feedback about the software. We love to hear the voices of our customers on how we can improve and develop our products and services to better suit your needs.

If you have any questions about the software, please contact your local Sony Support team. Due to proximity, they are better equipped to help woth uyour concerns. We kindly recommend visiting our Sony Global Web site, http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/, for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region.

HI intart,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

I'm sorry to hear that the PlayMemories Home software is causing you frustrations over importing your files. You can copy your files to the computer without using PMH. You can use a standard USB connection or directly inserting the card into the SD slot of your PC or using a card reader.

To use a USB standard connection, just connect the camera to the computer via the supplied or built in USB cable. Before connection, change the USB Connect Setting of your camera to MTP. Open the file folder wherein the photos or videos are saved. Pictures are saved in the DCIM folder, Mp4 videos in MP_Root, and AVCHD files are in the BDMV or AVCHD folder. Highlight the files you want to copy and move them by dragging or selecting Copy on your Right Click menu and pasting them to your preferred destination folder .

A video tutorial is available through this link

Video authentication fail

I too am having problems trying to take a HD video that I shot and burn to a standard dvd.  Playmemories brings up a message that the first time converting a HD video to standard, I must download additional software.  The download manager 1402b ends up with a message that the URL for the "add on software" is expired.

Maybe I don't understand what I am doing.  I thought that I could take an AVCHD file and that the software would convert it to a lower quality format that would burn to a standard dvd.

I can take the same video file and burn to a dvd, but it takes 4 disks to hold the whole video, and I have to chop it up to fit.

I saw this same problem in an earlier thread and I tried all of the fixes in that thread to no avail.  I did not see whether the issue was ever resolved.

Hi JoanGiner,

Thank you for your message. It will depend on how you set the timelapse and the duration.

MK_USB_App_detail_screen_shot_2_IS9104-NPIA09014_00-000003_tl_05b.jpg

To set it to save RAW, here are the steps:

- Select Theme Selection and set it to Custom and hit Ok

(other themes do not allow RAW).
- select Menu on the lower soft key
- Select Image Size then scroll to Quality
- You can now select RAW

(go to "Options" and make sure that file format is set to Still images)

Also, the Timelapse allows yu to create movies in 24P and 30P

What's the latest? Does it....or does it not work with Windows 10?  I read all about removing, reloading....it's compatable, yet doesn't state it....it's 8.1 that should work...10 works....does it or does it not?

If so, what's the layman's answer?

I think the DVD needs to be in the drive and recognized before you select "create disk".   Hope that helps.

I am trying to back up my HD videos from my HDR-SR5 Sony camcorder by creating a Blu-ray disc using Play Memories program.  I have never had a problem before, but  since we have loaded Windows 10 on our computer and have installed all the Play Memories updates I have been getting the following error:

"Cannot write to disc because an error has occured. [0070-8012-8012-0000C01B]"

Please help me.  I don't know what to do.

Thank you, Tami

PlayMemories 3.1 crashes on newly installed OS X El Capitan

I am trying to download my videos from my Sony HDR-SR12 camcorder to my Mac. The operating system is El Capitan 10.11.3 and has been recently re-installed. But PlayMemories constantly hangs at launch, showing the beachball and refusing to connect properly to the camcorder.

Any suggestion how I could solve this problem?

Aren't you in the wrong sub-forum (this one is for the ActionCam-product line).

Many thanks for the input - I have already tried both ways round and sadly it makes no difference. Thanks again for the thought - you never know till you've tried it :-)

Hi Jimbobcpa,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

From what I understand, you're getting the Authentication failure message when trying to burn a DVD disc. If the [The selected media files contain files that require authentication] message is displayed, click [Show Instructions for Authentication] to install DVD-Video Add-on Software. Click [Continue Process] if you continue on with the procedure excluding videos which need authentication.

If you're trying to create DVD discs for the first time using the latest version of the software, you will need to connect the camera to the computer to authenticate them. Please click on this link to learn more about creating discs.

Hi LutinVert,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

Since you've recently reinstalled your Mac OS, I would suggest uninstalling the PlayMemories Home software and reinstalling it again. The HDR-SR12 camcorder is compatible with the El Capitan OS and should not have any problems connecting to it. I suggest connecting the camera first to the computer before opening the program. PlayMemories Home will automatically start once the computer recognizes the connection. Make sure the camera display shows USB Connect. If the camera is not recognized by the computer, try another port or cable.

For further assistance, we recommend contacting your local Sony support team. Please visit our Sony Global Web site, http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/, for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region.

I have done that previously and the DiscAuthor download was completed.  I have installed and re-installed the software both with and without the camera attached, I have run the initiation program with the camera attached.  Each time I install and go to burn disk, the DiscAuthor downloads and installs as it should.  I can perform all of the other disc burning actions except burning an AVCHD video to standard quality DVD.  I think I noticed in the camera files, a small AVCHD author file.  Is this something that I need to download in addition to DiscAuthor?

Hi tb0ne22013,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

In answer to your question, yes, the PlayMemories Home is fully compatible with the Windows 10 OS. If you've recently installed the OS, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of PlayMemories Home

Hi twaterman,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

To resolve the issue with the error message, please make sure any Blu-ray Disc add-on software is installed and that you are using the latest version of the PlayMemories Home software. Also, uninstall other burning applications such as Roxio software which might cause conflicts with the PlayMemories Home software.

What specific format "corrections" does PMH perform for Sony media to be edited with NLE?

$

In attempting to edit media from the Sony HDR-PJ810e in Edit Share's Lightwork NLE software, I encounter many audio-video sync issues.

A user on the Lightworks forum thought that PMH is REQUIRED in my editing workflow as he thinks PMH has to "correct" or "prepare" the formatting of the media before I can transcode and/or edit.  We extracted some media info data from a few tests and it appears PMH may have prepared the test media in a formatting suitable for editing.

I find nothing on any Sony wesite that describes, in fact, that PMH is a REQUIREMENT for a stable editing workflow for Sony generated media.  What INDICATORS -- if any -- show that PMH actually makes the "corrections" or preparation of Sony media imported and/or camera-transferred from my Sony HDR-PJ810e?.

For example, when a clip is imported into PMH, will PMH add a new file extension or anything to indicate it processed the clip and prepared its formatting for editing?  Or do I just presume that if PMH touches the clip (i.e., the clip is simply imported into PMH at some point), that PMH will always recognize what formatting has to take place and do it?  These questions are targeted at both media camera-transferred by PMH and media residing on my external hard drive that I wish to import into PMH to make any necessary formatting preparation/correction should PMH even be designed for this function.

What specific format "corrections" or preparation does PMH perform for Sony generated media to be edited in a non-linear editing program?  And where can I find the documentation of such PMH re-formatting tasks?

Thank you.
