Hi: Play Memories and PhotoShop and Photo Elements are the same, right? If so, do I need it?

I've got the Alpha 6000 or the A6000 as it's better known and I just today thought I'd upload the Play Memories disc, but it looks just like another image altering programme.  Do I really need this if I have PhotoShop already installed?  I don't think so, but if anyone out there knows more than me - and that's probably just about everyone - I'd appreciated some input.

Hi kk5hy,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

Touch focus will be deactivated during movie mode. Once the camera is set to video, the AF will either be AFc or MF only. Once you move the mode dial to video, it will automatically be disabled.

PlayMemories Home v5.1 just hangs on startup?

Pretty disappointed?

Gave up of PMH sometime ago and after getting the Sony DSC-HX400V thought I would imstall the latest version (PMHOME_5100DL) on Windows 10 so I can take advantage of the GPS information embedded in my photos. Seeing that Lightroom doesn't see this information when imported to my PC?

Knowing well the issues I had last time I installed PMH with massive delays on startup due to the S/W trawling my disks creating .modd and .moff files. This time I left the folders completely empty of photos and videos and only allowed PMH to search one empty location.

This still hasn't stopped PMH using at least 54% of my CPU when it loads and just hangs there not allowing me to use the application?

Under Task Manager Details PMBBrowser.exe just keeps "Not Responding"?

Connected my HX400V to USB and got message about GPS Assist data uploading to camera, fine but what for when PMH just won't let me use it?

UNINSTALL again!

Bummer want to use GPS data collected from my photos and can't now?

PlayMemories Home needs some serious issues sorting.

Does PlayMemories allow zoom in video editing and save? If so, how?

I have taken videos and saved them to my computer.  I want to zoom in on those videos and save them as a new file.  Does PlayMemories allow that type of editing?  If yes, how?  If not, do you have any suggestions for an inexpensive software that will?  Thank you in advance.

Hi mordibe,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

When you say that the program stops, did it download successfully on your computer? Are you getting error messages when PMH stops? If you were unsuccessful in downloading it, we recommend disabling your firewall and security software as these may be blocking the download. Please contact your computer manufacturer for assistance with this.

If the download was successful but the software suddenly stops, please run the Initialization Tool for PlayMemories Home to reset it to its default settings.

  1. Open the PlayMemories Home Setting Initialization Tool.
  2. Check the box for Restore the program to its default settings and then select Start.
  3. When the message Are you sure you want to restore the program to its default settings? is displayed, select Yes. When Process completed is displayed, select OK.
  4. When you launch PlayMemories Home, the message Select the settings that PlayMemories Home uses initially will be displayed. Select Use custom settings and then select Next.
  5. The Add folders window will appear. Uncheck the box for Pictures (or My Pictures) and then select Next.
  6. The Import Media Files window will appear. Check the box for Import PlayMemories Home when a device is connected and then select Next.
  7. The PlayMemories Online settings window will appear. Check the box for Skip PlayMemories Online set-up now (you may set-up later) and then select Next.
  8. Reselect the DLNA Off setting in the PlayMemories Home Setting Initialization Tool.

If the issue is resolved, you can register a folder. If the issue reoccur once a folder is registered, it is possible that the folder contains images that are damaged or it contains incompatible files.

For further assistance regarding your concern, please contact the Sony offices/Sony representative offices nearest to your place of residence in Asia Pacific region http://www.sony-asia.com/countryselector.html?hpid=countryselector:AsiaPacific. Just wanted to mention that the reason pmh hung everytime was because I connected to pm online.
And have now managed to get GPS to work on my hx400v.
LL coords are now recorded to my photos.

Hi videonovice,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

PlayMemories Home doesn't have the capability to zoom in on the video and save it as a new file. The only video editing tools you can do in the program are trimming, combining, embedding music and putting captions on the videos.

Please click here for software that can be used to edit AVCHD files or HD videos taken with Sony Handycam models. Please contact the Sony Creative Software team for any questions about the Sony Vegas Pro software.

Not every JPG does have a MOFF file! Most of the files I got from my HX90V are without that appendix. Also as they are renamed from DSCxxxxx to YYYYMMDDHHMMSS this file does no more exist when PlayMemories will display a JPG.

is it possible to import avchd files from a windows hard drive to playmemories home

I have backed up files from my camcorder memory stick to my computer. Now I'd like to use PlayMemories Home to "import" these files the same way as I use to do from my camcorder, but it's not possible to have the computer hard drive as source when I try to import, only memory cards. Is there a way to do this or do I have to first copy the files back to the memory stick before importing??

When using Playmemories the files are renamed and so on

Hi,

I am using Mac OS X and was trying to install the PMCADownloader yet failed.

I downloaded the PMCADownloader.pkg from the official website and started the installation.

At the end of the process it shows up "The installation was successfull." "The software was installed."

Then I have restart my browser even my computer for serveral times.

Yet when I get back to the Playmemories Camera App website to try to connect my camera to the computer,

the website shows again to get me downlaod the PMCADownloader again...

I reopened the browesr for many times but still couldn't figure out the problem..

Can anyone help me with that?

Thanks!!

I'd say you have to put it back on the SD card then import
Usually (to what I understand) importing is to bring something from one place into another, if it's already on the computer, technically you can't import?

Or when you say import, you mean younwant now convert the video into a regular video format like?

I have downloaded videos and spent hours going thru them, editing.  When I tried to put them together as a movie, I could not find a way to do it.  Plus, it said they are in the wrong format...I am very frustrated.  Please help.  Where can I find step by step instructions on how to do this?

Hi bengtssjan,

Welcome to the Sony Community!

When you say that you want to import the AVCHD videos  to PlayMemories Home, may I ask if they're saved in a different file folder other than your default picture folder? If they are, you can add the folder to PlayMemories Home so that the program will also manage it and display the files saved in it. Please click on this link for the step by step guide on how to add folders to PMH.

There is no need to copy the files back to the media card to import them back to your computer. If you want to import files to your computer using PMH, you can insert the card to the card slot of your computer and open the program to do so. If your camera is compatible with the OS of your computer for USB transfer, simply connect the unit to the port of the computer and turn it on. PMH will open automatically once the computer detects the connection.

Play Memories AVCHD (HD) CreationCannot import the files required to create a menu.

I am trying to create a DVD from many combined MTS files which are in 3 separate files, but I get this error message.

Play Memories
AVCHD (HD) Creation
Cannot import the files required to create a menu.
Please install PlayMemories Home again.
The files were joined in PMH and saved in the home folder of each set of MTS files.

I then renamed them and moved them to another MyVideos Folder, where they are seen by PMH, and I drag them to the Tools for creating a DVD..

I have done this a few times and downloaded the V5.1.00.12260

There is no help on the ..

This page is of no help either..

A lot of the replies on this forum seem rather old and not related to later versions of PMH.

I wish they would give better specific help too.

I think Google gets better results, try that

cheers,
