Before going to Sony gear I had some excellent Fuji stuff. What a contrast in response to customer comments! There were regular software updates and new products, all of which clearly indicated that Fuji had taken our requests seriously. The difference in the two companies' customer support may be due to the huge difference in their sizes. Sony is so big and has so many different divisions relative to Fuji. It's like the federal government vs. small town government. Bigger is more powerful, but less accessable. We'll just have to keep making our wished known and hope they'll get the picture (no pun intended).

Both people said they had APPLE! we do not have Interent Explorer which is dumb by the way, I just bought my new Camera March 14th 2016 and it still doe snot connect to the playstation Memories WEbsite to download apps, same problem as their's, cannot verify please try again, cannot put Camera into Download mode it says...
When is sony going to fix this cause it has been since June 2015 I have seen many online complaints about this not working!! I'm about read to take it back to bestbuy and buy something else...

No. I ended up having to do this manually by directly on the camera, by connecting to the wifi through the camera. Then manually selecting the apps I wanted to download. This is a bug that Sony knows about but has not been willing to address.

PlayMemories Won't Take Picture
PlayMemories recognizes my phone and my camera. I can see my camera's view on my phone but when I click the button on my phone to take the picture, it doesn't want to take it. It gives an error message which I don't recall to a T but it says something like "Camera can't take photo". What am I doing wrong?

The add on allows you to use PlayMemories Home to create discs. A message to download the add on will pop up when you insert a DVD discs in your disc drive. Click OK to proceed with the disc creation. The steps on how to create different discs using PlayMemories Home is available through this link.
If you're not seeing the message, please disable any disc creation software on your computer and try again. Please contact the computer manufacturer for assistance with this.

The original files imported from the camera will be automatically saved in your default pictures folder (My Pictures), unless you change the destination folder on the Import window of PlayMemories Home. As for the Clip video, this could be an edited video of the original file. The edited video will retain the same file name of the original file, in this instance C002, and will be saved on your default video folder. The same will happen if your capture frames from a video, they in turn will be saved in the Pictures folder.

The .mts and .m2ts file extensions doesn't have any real difference as these two are associated with AVCHD files. The file extension may differ depending on how you import the files to your computer. Files which are imported by drag and drop, or transferring them without using PlayMemories Home are saved as .mts files. While ones that are copied using PlayMemories Home are read as .m2ts files. You can change the file extension, and also rename the whole file, by clicking on the video and selecting Properties. The file name and other data will appear on the right side of the window. You can then rename or change the file format through that tab.

% compatible with Mac's Safari browser? If so that would be another issue for your software team to resolve.

Movie production
This relates more to Action Cam Movie Creator but I can't find a board for that software.
I've produced a couple of movies with this package so far - the resulting movie displays the speed and other details nicely, along with progress on the trail taken. I'm finding that movie production takes a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY long time. Upwards of an hour for a 5 minute clip produced at 1920x1080 30p 14Mbps. I realise the software is synching data from the gps log as it builds the clip, but I have power director 14 that can do a full 90 min movie of the same quality in that time.
Am I the only one striking this? Is there a solution to speed things up? The time taken to produce movies with the gps and other data included makes the program and it's features a useless gimmic.

Based on the error message you're getting, the issue could be with the card you're using in the camera. Please make sure that there is enough space in the card to save your photos in. Back up the files in a computer and format the card or delete files to get more space. The pictures or videos taken while the camera is connected to your smartphone are still saved in the camera.
If the issue is unresolved, try a different card.

I am having the exact same issue as well.
I have attempted the purhcase for time lapse in both a windows OS based PC, multiple browsers, and also in the camera itself (a6000). I have also double checked my payment method on my account and everything is operational. The site just reloads after the confirm purchase button is clicked.

Thanks to Sony Support moderator "zandere", who suggested that I re-initialize the camera. Menu - Setup - Setting Reset - Initialize. Worked for me just fine. I had to reset all settings and reload whatever apps that were already loaded - those were free apps , so I hadn't had to go through the "agree and confirm purchase" page' which was the hang-up . You may also have to turn off anti-virus software.

Update:
I re-initialized per Zandere's recommendation. This did not solve the issue. The free apps installed with no issue but the pay for apps would not move past the confirmation button again as previously stated and would simply reload the page. I need more of an answer than "reset the camera" when clearly it is not camera specific. I have now spent over an hour re-customizing and configuring my camera functions and buttons. If Sony can please provide some insight, or maybe respond to the email query it would be much appreciated. At a minimum they could allow the applications to be downloaded to a pc and then manually transferred to the camera body.

I also uninstalled and re-installed PlayMemories Camera Apps Downloader and PlayMemories Home. However I can't be certain that had any affect. I haven't tried downloading any apps for more than a week, so I don't know if everything is still working. Actually, I think most of those apps are not as great as they seem at first. I will probably only use them a couple of times - got along fine for 40 years without them and I can't forsee buying anymore. Not from Sony, anyhow. Hopefully some 3rd party apps will come along soon that will be more user-friendly. It's pretty hard to figure out where to go for good support at Sony - everybody seems to want to pass the buck to someone else. They are aware of these problems and the burden should be on them to solve them and not relying on having customers wasting time meandering through endless user forums. Sorry I couldn't be of help. Sorry for the rant.

Welcome to the Sony Community!
To create a different folder or add a new one to organize your pictures using PlayMemories Home, right click on the list of folders on the right side of the window and select the appropriate action (add or create new folder) After doing so, highlight the images you want to transfer and drag them to the new folder. A message will pop up confirming the move. You can also drag and drop the pictures to any existing folders.
If you want to organize the files before importing them to the computer, you can select the folder you want to save the pictures in by clicking Browse Folders on the Import page.

Play Memories Thumbnail Creator
Trying to Create Disc (std) from Tools menu.
Left side of program screen shows a folder directory of all the dates on which we recorded video.
Center box displays thumbnails of the videos which have been selected in the folder directory on the left.
Right side has a blank box which says to drag files there to be burned to disc.
Select first dated folder in directory, and two thumbnails appear in Center box. So far, no problem.
Drag those two thumbnails to right-hand box to burn to disc, and the thumbnails are copied there. So far, no problem.
Select next dated folder in directory, and instead of new thumbnails appearing in center box, the same two thumbnails remain from the dirst folder. This is true for every folder in the directory.
Separately, when PM Home was started, a dialogue box popped up stating, "Thumbnail Creator has stopped working."
Have to conclude that I can't display thumbnails from my folder directory because this sub-program is not working.
But what to do to get it working?? MAny thanks!
